50 лет назад на североамериканском рынке вышла легендарная кинолента «Буллит», главную роль в которой сыграл известный киноактёр и авто-мотогонщик Стив Маккуин. The interior is pretty much standard GT spec with additional standard features and a few unique bits. The vehicle is equipped with the Premium Package as standard, which adds leather upholstery, the bigger display for the infotainment system, ambient lighting, aluminum pedals, satin brush aluminum on the center stack, an upgraded sound system, navigation, adaptive cruise control, and rain-sensing wipers.
Ford also offers a heated, leather steering wheel as standard, alongside the 12-inch, all-digital instrument cluster from the facelifted, 2018 Mustang. Bullitt-specific features include green accent stitching on the dashboard, door panels, center console, and seats, and a white cue ball shift knob as a nod to the original car. The infotainment system has a unique start screen in green with an image of the car rather than the pony.
The options list includes a set of leather-trimmed Recaro seats and the Bullitt Electronics Package. The latter includes driver memory seats and mirrors and Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert that can alert customers of vehicles detected in difficult-to-see places, among other features.

Just like its predecessor, the new Bullitt gets its juice from an updated version of the GT’s 5.0-liter V-8. The naturally aspirated unit gained a few revised internals for enhanced performance and remains exclusive to this special edition. The revised engine cranks out 480 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. That’s 20 extra horses compared to the standard GT, while torque is identical.
The V-8 mates to a manual transmission only, with no option for an automatic. Ford also added an active valve performance system, while the exhaust was retuned to give the engine a signature burble. Other upgrades include an Open Air Induction system, intake manifold with 87mm throttle bodies from the Shelby GT350, and a recalibrated powertrain control module.
More updates come from the Performance Package, which is standard on this model. The bundle adds update springs, bushings, shocks, and a rear sway bar. It also includes an upgraded strut tower brace, bigger brakes, updated rear gear ratio, and a Torsen differential.
Optionally, the Mustang Bullitt can be equipped with the MagneRide semi-active suspension system for optimized driving performance.
For has yet to release performance figures, but the Bullitt could be a tenth-second quicker than the Mustang GT with the manual transmission thanks to the extra oomph. Top speed for this model is rated at 163 mph, an eight mph increase over the Mustang GT.

Задняя часть автомобиля также имеет эксклюзивные отличительные признаки:
- Обвес заднего бампера из-под которого видна пара глушителей со сдвоенными патрубками глушителя;
- Задние фонари представлены в виде эффектных трехмерных ходовых огней;
- Заднее стекло заужено и имеет небольшие размеры.
Кроме того, на заднем бампере можно обнаружить дополнительные хромированные элементы.
Цветовая гамма автомобиля не слишком широкая: темно-зеленый и теневой черный цвет – небогатый выбор оттенков от знаменитого немецкого автоконцерна.

Внутреннее оформление Ford Mustang Bullitt
Салон специальной версии Ford Mustang Bullitt практически полностью идентичен обычному Форд Мустанг с предустановленным пакетом Premium. Качество материалов, как и непосредственно сборка, находится на очень высоком уровне.
Место водителя представлено удобным трехспицевым мультирулем с крупным логотипом «Bullitt» по центру, а также высокоинформативным цифровым приборным щитком.

Напротив переднего пассажира располагается оригинальная табличка с надписью Bullitt и вместительный бардачок.
Передним пассажирам базово предлагаются комфортные кресла с хорошей боковой поддержкой и большим количеством регулировок, что позволяет удобно расположиться даже людям высокого роста. В качестве опции доступны спортивные кресла Recaro.
Между сидениями первого ряда проходит достаточно высокий трансмиссионный туннель, на котором располагаются «кочерга» стояночного тормоза, пара подстаканников и компактная ручка КПП с фирменным круглым набалдашником, выкрашенным в белый цвет.

Ford Mustang Bullitt: что нового в 2019 году?
Форд погрузился полностью в ностальгию и создал Mustang Bullitt 2019 года. И можно с уверенность сказать, что им было весело делать это. Автомобиль доступен в двух цветах: в Dark Highland Green или Shadow Black. Но и сложно представить, чтобы он не получил свой фирменный зеленый оттенок. Задние фонари получили вид наклонных штрихов, что придало виду машины дополнительные динамические характеристики.
Сохранив длину своей колесной базы, новый Ford Mustang 2019 вырос в ширину на 38 мм, однако при этом он стал ниже ростом на 36 мм. Тормозная система представлена в виде вентилируемых дисков, оборудованных системой ABS, а также EBD, призванных обеспечивать комфортное и безопасное движение. Базовая комплектация для любой модели Мустанга обязательно включает задний дифференциал с функцией самоблокировки. Судя по отзывам владельцев, это сильная черта автомобиля. Breaking In the Stallion
In the short while that the Bullitt has been with us, it has elicited inadvertent stares, compulsory comments, and endless thumbs up. It’s unusual that a day goes by without someone stopping us in a parking lot or at a gas pump to share their thoughts on the McQueen-inspired pony car. Meanwhile, it has provided our staff with frequent grins and an uncontrollable urge to rev the impressively refined Coyote. The Bullitt’s engine even prompted one staffer to compare it with the 8250-rpm 4.0-liter V-8 found in the E90 BMW M3. «It’s all ate up with revs yet impossibly smooth,» online editor Alexander Stoklosa wrote in the Ford’s logbook.

Still, some of us have had issues with the manual shifter’s reverse-lockout collar that became stuck in the raised position several times. Other gripes include a set of uncovered wires poking out from behind the rearview mirror, poorly constructed menus within the 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster, and false blind-spot and parking alerts that briefly locked us out of the driving-mode selections and disabled the backup camera. We’re also disappointed that the power-operated front seats feature a manual recline lever instead of the full-power operation on similarly priced Chevy Camaros and Dodge Challengers.
At the test track, our Mustang blitzed from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and clipped the quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds at 115 mph. That’s plenty quick, yet still well short of the 3.8-second zero-to-60-mph run that the latest Mustang GT can do when fitted with its optional 10-speed automatic transmission. The Bullitt also circled the skidpad with a solid 0.95 g of grip and stopped from 70 mph in 159 feet, but, again, there are other Mustang variants that can top those figures. Impressive track numbers aren’t what makes the Bullitt special. It’s that unabashedly cool Highland Green paint, the rev-happy Coyote V-8, and the dual ability to cruise with maximum style or thrash it down a twisty road. We may be very familiar by now with the current Ford Mustang, but the Bullitt’s characterful features have us as excited at the chance to put 40,000 miles on another one.

Based on the recently unveiled 2018 Mustang, the Bullitt benefits from all the new design features of the mid-cycle facelift pony car. Highlights include redesigned headlamps with LED, reshaped front grille, new diffuser, and revised taillights. In addition to the above, the Bullitt gets its own unique features, most of them based on the styling cues of the original movie car.
Up front, we can see a new grille design with a honeycomb-pattern, black mesh. There’s no pony logo, but Ford added subtle chrome accents on the upper frame. Onto the sides, we can see the usual Torque Thrust wheels, also based on the original car and seen on previous iterations of the Bullitt. On this car, they measure 19 inches and are made from aluminum. Behind them, red-painted Brembo brake calipers add a dash of color.
Around back, the Bullitt gets the revised diffuser that comes with Premium Package, which is standard on this special edition, a circular faux gas cap with the Bullitt logo on the rear fascia, and new Black NitroPlate exhaust tips. Speaking of colors, the new Bullitt can be ordered in just two exterior paints. There’s Dark Highland Green, a modern, metallic version of the original movie car’s shade, and Shadow Black.

Производитель отмечает, что получил перенастроенный активный выхлоп, а также впускной коллектор с 87-мм дроссельными заслонками, позаимствованный у версии Shelby GT350.
Кроме того, автомобиль обзавёлся другим блоком управления силовой установки и адаптивной системой амортизаторов MegneRide, наполненных специальной магнитореологической смесью. Как и другие версии авто, машина оборудована самоблокирующимся тыльным дифференциалом TORSEN.
Базируется новинка на хорошо знакомой по обычному Форд Мустанг «тележке» предполагающей наличие независимых подвесок спереди и сзади, представленных стойками МакФерсон с системой двойных шарниров и многорычажкой соответственно.
Рулевое управление маслкара щеголяет электроусилителем с тремя предустановленными режимами работы – нормальный, спортивный и комфортный. A Millennial co-worker of mine saw the Mustang Bullitt sitting in the carpark and said, “I’d buy it if it was blue.” Blasphemy! Young man, step back! There is only one color for the Bullitt and that’s Dark Highland Green metallic. Ford also offers it in Shadow Black, and I must admit it looks slick, but that kind of transgression is an entirely different sin. Green is holy in this annals of speed.
Racing Bullitt Green
My young friend apparently has never seen the 1968 flick Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen, in which a custom Mustang leads one of the most iconic chase scenes ever put in a movie, out-pacing a Dodge Charger while jumping and sliding through the streets of San Francisco. I told him to go rent it and quit talking to me until he has. The Mustang in Bullitt is, of course, green!
At least he appreciated the styling. I love how the front fender recedes into the bodyside, then kicks up again into the rear fender, connecting to the original. The fastback roofline and rear window trim gives a hint of Aston Martin while the wide rear channels Porsche – except for those triple element taillamps. Look close to notice LED headlamps and small LED accent lights up front that echo the stamped sheetmetal on the original. Key to the Bullitt is keeping it simple with a Mustang-less custom grille, 19-inch black five-spoke Heritage wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, and integrated decklid spoiler. No nonsense.
McQueen wouldn’t recognize the latest car’s interior, though the twin cowl dash with aluminum-look accents is wholly appropriate. Leather bucket seats are heated and cooled; the thick leather-wrapped steering wheel is also heated. Dual zone automatic climate control, B&O audio, and navigation add joy while the touchscreen features intuitive icons along the bottom for audio, climate, nav, and phone. Safety is enhanced with blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.

My friend probably thinks the Bullitt should have a cute little turbocharged four-cylinder engine too, but Ford saw otherwise. The Bullitt gets a 5.0-liter V8 that delivers 480 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque through a rev-matching six-speed manual transmission. In today’s race, that’s not enough to show a Challenger Hellcat taillights, but it’s plenty for all other endeavors. You certainly don’t have to endure left lane slowpokes. Shift down, move right, and leave them in your rearview mirror. Stay throttled to hit 163 mph or let up to achieve an impressive 15/25-MPG city/highway.
Older Mustangs could go fast in a straight line, but their solid rear axles danced over rough roads. That ends with the latest generation’s independent rear suspension. Even better, our car employs MagneRide damping — similar to what Cadillac, Corvette, and Ferrari use — to adjust suspension calibration continuously. It rides firm, but is never harsh, and completely controls unwanted motions. Adjustable drive modes calibrate the suspension and throttle from Snow/Ice through Normal, Sport, and Track settings. The steering weight can be adjusted independently. Rev matching automatically cracks the throttle on downshifts and is loud enough to wake McQueen from his nap. Glorious!
Two 1969 Mustang GT fastbacks were used in the movie, which debuted on October 17, 1968. One car was used in many of the jumps and was sent to the scrap yard while the second was sold to a private buyer. The latter was found in Baja, California in early 2017. It’s showing its age, but has been used extensively to promote the current edition. The two cars are clearly formed of the same mettle.
After a full education, our young friend now understands why the Mustang Bullitt is so special. I’m sure it would look good in blue (or red, white, yellow…), but that’s just wrong. While the original is priceless, you can buy a 2019 Mustang Bullitt for $46,595 – or, $51,485 as tested. Competitors include the Dodge Challenger SRT, Chevy Camaro SS, and Audi S5.
